Promises of God

God has made us certain promises throughout the bible.

I want us to take a look at a few of those promises and see if we can match those promises of God to our personal life.

Let us see if we can see God’s promises being fulfilled in our lives.

I assure you they are and I want to get you to see it for yourself today.

I have seven scriptures I want to talk about today which are:

  Philippians 4:13

  James 5:14-15

  Philippians 4:19

  Jeremiah 33:3

  Acts 16:31

  II. Timothy 4:18

  Revelation 22:13-14

God Made Us A Promise To Accomplish Things In Our Lives:

Philippians 4:13 says "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me".

Paul was content because he could see life from God’s point of view.

Paul focused on what he was supposed to do instead of what he felt like he should do.

Paul’s priorities were correct and he was grateful to God for everything. (WE OUGHT TO BE GRATEFUL TO GOD FOR EVERYTHING)

Paul separated his thought away from non-essential things and focused primary on the things of God and eternity with God.

Paul teaches us how to find true contentment through our prospective, our priorities and our source of power.

Paul said that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Can we really do anything? YES WE CAN!

The power we receive through our relationship with Jesus Christ is sufficient for us to do his will; and to face the challenges that come about while we are committed to obeying God.

I can do all things through Christ Jesus!

This does not mean that God is going to turn us into some super hero with super powers like the character "Hancock" for instance.

Christ is going to empower us with ability:

Ability to withstand the pressures of life!

Ability to be an effective witness of the gospel!

Ability to contend to our faith through our trials and tribulations!

Can you honestly look right now over your life and see times in your own life when God has done these things for you?

If you can that’s great! If you can’t keep looking?

Does anyone desire to share a moment in their life when God gave them the ability to do something you though was hard or impossible to do yet you trusted God and did it through Jesus Christ?

God Made Us A Promise To Accomplish Things In Our Lives

And he has and continues to do so every day.

Another Promise Of God Is For Us To Receive Healing:

James 5:14-15 says "If any is sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."

James is referring to someone who is incapacitated physically.

In scripture oil was both medicine and a symbol of the spirit of God, thus oil can represent both the medical and the spiritual spheres of life.

Christians should not separate the physical and the spiritual because Jesus Christ is Lord over both body and spirit.

People in the church are not alone.

Members of Christ’s body should be able to count on each other for support and prayer; especially when they are sick or suffering needs.

Church elders are to be on call 24 / 7 to answer the call of a sick member.

Prayers offered in faith does not only refer to the faith of the sick person but the faith of the people praying also.

God heals and it is through faith that God delivers.

The prayers of the righteous are a part of the healing process.

This is why God often waits for our prayers of faith before intervening to heal a person.

God promises to accomplish things in our lives

God promises us healing

God Also Promises To Meet Our Financial Needs.

Philippians 4:19 states "But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

We can trust that God will always meet our needs.

Whatever we need here on earth my God will supply it for us.

Even if it is the courage to face death as with Paul.

Whatever we need ------- In Heaven God will supply.

We must remember; however; the difference between our needs and our wants.

Many people feel good and avoid discomfort or pain.

We may not all get what we want.

But trusting in Christ our attitudes and appetites can change from wanting everything to accepting God’s provisions and power to live for him.

God promises to accomplish things in our lives

God promises us healing

God promises to provide for our needs

God Also Promises To Do Great Things In Our Life:

Jeremiah 33:3 says "Call unto me and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

God assured Jeremiah that Jeremiah only had to call on God and God would answer.

God is ready to answer our prayers, but we must ask for his assistance.

Surly God can take care of our needs without us asking, but when we ask we are acknowledging that he alone is god and that we cannot accomplish this in our own strength.

When we ask we must humble ourselves, lay aside our willfulness and worry and be determined to obey God.

When god sees this in us he will prepare us for greatness through his mightiness.

In all thy ways acknowledge God giving him glory and praise!

God promised to accomplish things in our lives

God promised to heal us

God promised to meet our needs

God promised to do great things in our lives

And God Promises To Grant Salvation For You And All Of Your Family:

Acts 16:31 lets us know that "if we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ thou shalt be saved and thy house."

Paul and Silas reputation in Philippi was well known.

When the jailer realized his own true condition and needs he risked everything to find the answer.

The Christian good news about salvation is simply expressed: Believe In The Lord Jesus And You Will Be Saved.

When we recognize Jesus as Lord and trust in him with our entire life, salvation is assured to us.

If you have never trusted Jesus to save you, I encourage you to do so quickly.

Your life can be filled with joy just as the jailers was.

Paul and Silas took family seriously.

The offer of salvation was made to the jailer and his entire household His Family And His Servants).

The jailer and his family needed to come to Jesus in faith and believe in Jesus to be saved.

Simply knowing what needs to be done is not enough.

We MUST put actions behind our knowledge of Jesus Christ.

If you know your rent or mortgage is due on the first that’s one thing but if you don’t put some actions behind that knowledge and actually pay your rent or mortgage; the first of the month will come and go and your rent / mortgage will still be unpaid.

Likewise if you know what God expects of you but do nothing about it, if you take no actions, God’s will for your life will go unfulfilled and you will become in danger of God’s wrath.

Pray that God will use you to introduce Jesus Christ to your family and friends in a way that they too may come to believe in Jesus.

God promised to accomplish things in your life

God promised you healing

God promised to meet your needs

God promised to do great things in your life

God promises you salvation

And God Promises To Protect You From Evil:

II. Timothy 4:18 says "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory forever and ever AMEN."

Here Paul was affirming his belief in eternal life after death. Paul knew the end was near, and he was ready for it. Paul was confident in God’s power even as he faced death. Anyone facing a life and death struggle can be comforted knowing that God will bring each believer safely through death. Into his (God’s) heavenly kingdom!

Keep in mind that there is nothing that can possible happen to you good, or bad, that God cannot undo. Simply let go and let God have his way in your life, and Oh!!! What a change he will bring about in you.

I Am A Living Testimony Of The Change God Can And Will Bring In The Lives Of Those Who believe And Trust In Him Whole heartedly.

I can boldly proclaim that what God has done for others he can and will do for you if you let him.

He’s not going to force himself on you.

You have a free will and you need to use that free will to choose;

Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

If you want God’s promise of accomplishing things in your life

Let go and Let God Give God your allegiance!

If you want God’s promise of healing in your life

Let go and Let God Give God your allegiance!

If you want God’s promise to meet your every need

Let go and Let God Give God your allegiance!

If you want God’s promise to do great things in your life

Let go and Let God Give God your allegiance!

If you want God’s promise of Salvation for you& your family

Let go and Let God Give God your allegiance!

If you want God’s promise of protection

Let go and Let God Give God your allegiance!

And finally if you want God’s promise of eternal life

Let go and Let God Give God your allegiance!

Revelation 22:13-14 says "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city."

God is identifying himself here as the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, the very first and the very last.

God was the very first being in the world and he will be the last one.

Does this mean that those going to heaven will eventually be destroyed. NO!

God saying he is the ending and the last simply means he is the last of the originals. When we die our spirit will rise up out of our bodies and we will no longer be in the original format that God made us from the dust of the land. We will still be in God’s image but without the earthly flesh.

Those that do God’s commandments are those who washed their robes with the blood of the Lamb of God (Jesus).

Those who seek to purify themselves from sinful living

Those who strive every day to remain faithful as they await Christ’s Return.

In Eden Adam and Eve was banned from access to the tree of life because of their sin.

In the new earth God’s people will eat from the tree of life

Because their sins have been removed by Christ’s death on the cross and his resurrection.

Those who eat from the tree of life will live forever.

If Jesus has forgiven your sins you will have the right to eat from this tree of life and live forever with God, in God’s actual presence.
